My name is Shayla. I decided to make this blog for two reasons. One is because I was learning so many lessons that I kept repeatedly being asked to share. Transitioning into a wife and a mother and a stay-at-home-mom profession was full of situations where I lacked knowhow, and it was hard sometimes. The other reason is because I get tired of the philosophy in life that says, “Well, that’s just the way it is.” There are so many things (endless diapers, lack of sleep at night, fighting with your spouse, smart-alecky children, etc.) that many people just think has to be that way, but I want to show that doesn’t have to be true. So I offer my experiences and gain to you, that perhaps it might provide empathy, encouragement, and a springboard for your own ideas and solutions.
The constant characters in my posts are my family: my husband Andrew and our two daughters, Thea (Tay-ah) and Rose.
I also include a lot of religious teachings in my posts. It’s because there is no separation between religious topics and real life. I believe that God cares about us in every aspect, and so I see His hand and His teachings in everything I do. I have to give credit where credit is due. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but we’re also known as Mormons because of our belief in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. If you want to find out more clearly what my religion entails, please visit lds.org and mormon.org.
